Is Bruising After Dermal Filler Normal?
Short answer: yes, mild bruising after dermal filler is common. Small vessel hits, thin skin and blood-thinning habits all raise the chance. Most marks fade over a few days to about a week.
A bruise does not mean the filler has gone wrong. It means a tiny vessel leaked under the skin while the needle or cannula passed through. Swelling can make the colour look worse for a day or two before it settles.
What makes bruising more likely
Aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E and alcohol in the days around treatment
Lips, under-eyes and thin cheek skin, where vessels sit close to the surface
A history of easy bruising or previous marks in the same spot
Rubbing, heat, saunas and workouts too soon after treatment
Alcohol in particular stacks the risk: see can you drink alcohol after dermal filler.
What usually helps while it settles
Cool the area gently if we have advised it, keep your head raised when you can, and leave the points alone. Cover with makeup only once the skin is closed, usually the next day.

Quick FAQ
"How long do bruises last?" Often three to seven days. Deeper marks can take closer to two weeks to go fully yellow and fade.
"Will arnica fix it overnight?" Some people find topical options soothing. They will not erase a bruise in one night.
"When should I worry?" Increasing pain, expanding hardness, blanching, mottled colour or any vision change needs urgent contact. Ordinary purple or blue that softens day by day usually does not.
"Can I still go to an event?" Book earlier if you need a clear face for photos. Concealer the next day is usually fine once the points have closed.
