Can You Drink Alcohol After Dermal Filler?

Short answer: skip alcohol the day of treatment and ideally the next day as well. A drink will not dissolve dermal filler, but it can make bruising, swelling and flushing worse while the injection points are still settling.

Filler needs a quiet window while the area settles. Alcohol widens blood vessels, which is why a glass the same evening is more likely to leave a mark or puffier lips than to undo the treatment.

What to avoid around treatment day

  • Alcohol the night before if you bruise easily

  • Wine, beer or spirits the evening of your appointment

  • Heavy drinking the next day while any pinpoint marks or swelling are still obvious

  • Mixing a hangover with rubbing, heat, saunas or firm pressure on the treated area

  • The wider first-week picture is in what is normal in the first week after facial filler.

When a drink is usually fine again

Most people can have a modest drink after about 24 hours if the skin looks calm. If you still have open points, fresh bruises or throbbing swelling, wait until that settles. One glass is not the same as a long night out.

Quick FAQ

  • "Will one glass ruin my filler?" Unlikely. The bigger risk is a more obvious bruise or swell, not the filler disappearing.

  • "What about the night before?" If you bruise easily, keep it dry. Otherwise a small drink is rarely a problem, but do not arrive dehydrated.

  • "Champagne at a wedding tonight?" Book earlier in the week if you need a clear face for photos, or keep the toast small and avoid pressing the treated area.

  • "Does red wine matter more?" Any alcohol can widen vessels. Red wine is not uniquely bad; volume and timing matter more.
