NASOLABIAL FOLDS (NOSE TO MOUTH LINES)

Prominent nasolabial folds are one of the early visual signs of ageing. Nasolabial folds can be defined as creases that extend from the edge of the nose to the corners of the mouth. This happens because the aging process reduces the production of collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin, causing volume loss and sagging of the skin. Sun can also severely degrade your skin, causing it to lose its ability to snap back in to place. These multiple factors can cause nose to mouth folds. Treatment is based on either the replenishment of volume of fat compartments that have become deflated or indeed lifting of sagging tissue. In certain cases a combination of treatment approaches is required to achieve the best result.

WHAT DOES THE PROCEDURE INVOLVE?

​

Topical anaesthetic will be applied for 15-30 minutes prior the treatment for additional comfort The dermal filler is injected in precise locations into the skin. This is then massaged to smooth the product. During the procedure, you are fully awake and will be given a mirror to hold to enable you to see the results

RESULTS

​

The result is immediate and will last about up to 12 - 18 months. However, due to the immediate swelling from the procedure the final result will not be seen until about 2-3 weeks. A plan for regular follow-up treatments to maintain the initial result can be created for you. Our treatment provides a long-lasting, but not permanent result. POST TREATMENT ADVICE AND AFTERCARE

Not only is there no downtime associated with this treatment, the results are natural-looking and subtle, with immediate effect. Two to three days after treatment the swelling settles and gives an impeccable result. 

You must adhere to aftercare advice to prevent any infection occurring; 

​

• Using tepid water to cleanse the face for the first 48 hours following treatment and drying the area by gentle patting with a clean towel

• Ensuring that hands are always clean when touching the area treated, to avoid infections

• Not applying conventional make-up products to the skin for the first 12 hours following treatment, some mineral based make-up products are able to be applied, as recommended by your practitioner

• Applying a sunscreen product with a high SPF and avoiding sun exposure

• Vigorous exercise, should be avoided for 48 hours after treatment, or as advised by your clinician

• No sauna or steam room for 2 weeks post treatment

WILL IT HURT?

​

Beautoxology only uses dermal fillers that contain lidocaine. This is a local anaesthetic to minimise pain and discomfort. Topical anaesthetic (numbing cream) will also be applied to the area for 15-20 minutes prior to injection. Most clients report that the treatment is a slightly uncomfortable rather than painful.

RISKS AND SIDE EFFECTS

All treatments carry a degree of risk. All risks and complications will be discussed with you at consultation and prior to any treatment being agreed. Side effects include, but are not limited to; 

• Redness

The above are temporary and usually resolve within the first few days, swelling is often marked the next morning but settles within hours, bruising can take a week to 10 days to resolve and can sometimes persist for longer.

MARIONETTE LINES (mouth corners)

​

So-called “marionette lines” run from the corners of your mouth down to your chin and can give a grumpy and sad looking appearance. As volume is lost in the upper part of the cheek, the skin sags, forming both nose to mouth lines and marionette lines. As like with nose to mouth lines, this may be treated in either one for two treatment sessions depending on the severity of these lines. If the corners of the lips are severely turned down your practitioner may advise that the adjacent structures are lifted first. This may involve lifting from the cheek and lifting back from the jaw line.

CHEEK AUGMENTATIONS

​

Loss of volume in the cheeks can have a huge impact on the rest of the face. Cheeks are a very important feature of the face. As we age, the structures of our face change, not just the quality of our skin, but also the underlying support, including the skull, muscles and fat. This causes the face to shrink in some places, fat and muscle descend with gravity and the skin having become thinner and less elastic, no longer ‘fits’. This leads to the formation of jowls (the sag around the chin area) and naso-labial lines/folds (the line from the corner of the nose to the corner of the mouth). With cheek volume loss, the face no longer has the natural youthful curves and can make you look permanently tired and saggy. 

In order to lift the skin and restructure the face, cheek fillers can be used to help restore volume. Replacing volume in the cheeks is therefore of high importance when rejuvenating the face. One of the advantages of treating the cheeks is that it lifts the entire face and reduces naso-labial lines and jowls. Furthermore, the mid cheek can support the lower eyelid, and in many cases, adding volume to the cheeks can improve the appearance of under eye bags and hollows. Cheek enhancement is performed using an injectable dermal filler to temporarily improve the volume of the cheeks, increasing definition and fullness.

CHIN ENHANCEMENT

The chin is an often overlooked area in facial treatments, but it can dramatically change both your frontal and side profile. HOW IS CHIN RESHAPING USED IN COSMETIC MEDICINE?

Creating a beautiful face is an art. Whist some men may want a stronger and more defined jawline, many women feel uncomfortable with having a square shaped jaw, perceiving such as looking unfeminine. At Beautoxology we treat both male and female clients who wish to either masculinise or feminise their face. For those that opt for a V-shape face we can lift from other areas on the face to define the jaw.
