Is Lumi Eyes the Same as Tear Trough Filler?

Short answer: no. People often type both into the same search because the under-eye looks tired either way. The treatments are not interchangeable.

Lumi Eyes is a mesotherapy-style under-eye treatment bookable as a short course (first, second, third, then maintenance). Tear trough filler is a dermal filler placement that restores volume in a hollow. If your mirror shows a groove rather than crepey, dull skin, filler is usually the conversation. If the skin itself looks thin, dry or grey-toned, Lumi Eyes may fit better.

So what is Lumi Eyes, in plain English?

Think skin quality under the eye, not a pillow of volume. It is injected in tiny amounts to support hydration and tone in the periocular skin. Clinics often plan it as a short series rather than a one-off "fill and go".

  • Aims at tired-looking skin texture and dullness around the eye

  • Usually booked as a course (Phorest lists 1st, 2nd, 3rd and six-monthly maintenance)

  • Does not replace a deep hollow the way tear trough filler can

  • Still needs an in-person look: dark circles from pigment or sinus shadow will not melt overnight

When tear trough filler is the better match

A true tear trough is a hollow that casts a shadow even when you have slept. That is volume loss along the lid-cheek junction. See when under-eyes still look tired and our tear trough treatment page. Filling the wrong concern, or filling when the skin is too thin, is how under-eyes end up puffy or uneven.

  • Hollow groove that makeup sits in

  • Shadow that softens when you gently push volume into the trough (assessment checks this safely)

  • Skin quality is otherwise decent and the main issue is depth, not crepe

Quick FAQ we hear in clinic

  • "Can I have both?" Sometimes, staged carefully. Skin quality first or volume first depends on what you see in bright light.

  • "Is it like Profhilo?" Same family of "skin quality" thinking, different product and site. Face-wide tired skin may point to Profhilo instead; see why skin still looks tired.

  • "Will I bruise?" Possible around the eye with any injectable. Plan social downtime if you bruise easily.

  • "How soon will I see a change?" Lumi Eyes builds across the course. Tear trough filler shows volume sooner, then settles over days.
